Datasat’s consumer processors come from a company with deep commercial-cinema DNA. RS20i and LS10 remain useful reference points for highly configurable DSP, AES/EBU connectivity, active crossovers and Dirac-based room optimisation.
A specialist reference family whose audio architecture remains more interesting than its age suggests.
RS20i in particular was conceived much closer to a professional cinema processor than a conventional residential pre-pro. Sixteen-channel AES/EBU I/O, extensive equalisation, active crossovers and flexible routing give it a distinctly engineering-led character.
The video sections are older than current HDMI 2.1 platforms, so Datasat is best treated as specialist/reference coverage where audio-system requirements and source architecture are considered carefully.
