Do you need more than 16 outputs?

A new 16-channel separates processor combining ARCAM’s Radia design language with flexible channel assignment, full balanced outputs and the Dirac correction ecosystem.

The AVP45 is the processor at the top of ARCAM’s 2026 Radia AV family. It keeps the familiar separates logic — processor plus external power amplification — but brings a much newer user interface, HDMI platform and flexible speaker assignment than the older HDA generation.
Its real attraction is architectural balance: sixteen channels is enough for layouts such as 9.1.6, while balanced XLR outputs on every channel keep it straightforward to integrate with conventional multichannel amplifiers.
ARCAM’s Matrix Channel Assignment allows all sixteen channels to be reassigned, giving the designer more freedom than a fixed 7.x.4 or 9.x.6 template. Subwoofer assignment is available on designated channel positions, so the bass plan still needs to be designed deliberately.
Both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs are available for all sixteen preamp channels, which makes the processor easy to pair with mixed amplification architectures.
The base platform includes Dirac Live Room Correction. Projects that need more advanced low-frequency coordination can add Dirac Live Bass Control, while Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is positioned as the most ambitious option for multi-speaker room control.
That distinction matters when comparing AVP45 with processors that include more extensive bass or room optimisation as part of their core platform.
AVP45 makes sense where sixteen processed channels are enough, balanced analog outputs are preferred and the project values both high-quality music replay and immersive cinema.
For rooms likely to grow beyond sixteen outputs, or for digital/AoIP-first racks, a higher-channel or network-native platform may still be the better long-term decision.

Full-range room correction, Bass Control and ART are different capabilities and may require additional licensing.
Both are available, but amplifier sensitivity, cable lengths and rack layout should determine the connection choice.
AVP45 is materially more modern on video than several older audiophile-oriented processors still on the market.
