Which modules are installed?
MDC means two M17 V2i units can differ materially depending on their digital/video modules.
A long-running Masters Series processor whose defining strengths are modular hardware, BluOS streaming, Dirac Live Full Bandwidth and a strong two-channel audio heritage.

NAD’s Modular Design Construction is the core reason the M17 V2i remains interesting. Key digital/video functions live on replaceable modules, allowing the chassis to evolve rather than becoming obsolete every time an interface standard changes.
The current product listing still centres on 11.1 balanced outputs, Dolby Atmos/DTS:X, BluOS and Dirac Live Full Bandwidth. Its limitation is equally clear: the published video platform is 4K UHD rather than the 8K/4K120 class now common on newer processors.
M17 V2i is an analog-output separates processor with balanced connections across the main channel set. BluOS is integrated rather than added as a separate streamer, making music playback part of the system design.
The modular construction is attractive for longevity, but the project should be specified around the capabilities of the modules actually installed in the unit being supplied.
NAD’s current Dirac compatibility information lists Full Bandwidth correction for M17 V2i while marking Dirac Live Bass Control as unavailable. That makes it important to distinguish ordinary room correction from independent multi-subwoofer optimisation.
For a single-sub or simpler bass architecture, the platform can still be extremely capable. More elaborate bass systems may need an external DSP strategy or a different processor.
M17 V2i makes most sense when the cinema shares serious music duties, the room fits within its 11.1 architecture and BluOS is desirable.
For a new 2026 build that prioritises 4K120 gaming, multiple independent subwoofer channels or 9.1.6 layouts, newer platforms should be compared before choosing it.
MDC means two M17 V2i units can differ materially depending on their digital/video modules.
The current published specification is 4K UHD, so gaming-led systems require particular attention.
Dirac Live Full Bandwidth is included, but NAD does not list Bass Control for M17 V2i.
For clients already using BluOS, the integrated streaming layer can be a significant system advantage.
