WHY IT EXISTS
A processor for systems where the audio signal should remain digital beyond the rack core.

DPR-16 moves Hyperion away from a conventional analog-output processor and into networked cinema architecture. AudioControl describes it as capable of distributing 16 channels over a single Ethernet connection while supporting Dante, AES67, AES/EBU and eARC.

That creates a very different design conversation: where the D/A conversion happens, how amplifiers connect, how the network is engineered and how future zones or system expansion are handled.

Digital-first routing

DPR-16 is most interesting when amplification or downstream conversion can accept digital or network audio. Instead of creating a large analog loom at the processor, the signal can stay digital deeper into the system.

Why this matters

This can reduce cabling, simplify routing and create much greater flexibility in large or distributed systems — but it also makes network design and clocking part of the audio specification.

Networked cinemas, Dante/AES67 systems, digital amplifiers and projects where a conventional bank of analog XLR outputs is not the preferred architecture.

Final suitability still depends on speaker count, subwoofer strategy, amplifier interface, HDMI requirements, rack design and the calibration workflow expected after installation.
