Dirac Live ART explained

Dirac Live ART extends correction beyond individual speaker filters by allowing multiple loudspeakers to participate in controlling room decay and low-frequency behaviour.

Dirac is now a family of technologies

Dirac Live Room Correction, Bass Control and Active Room Treatment solve related but different problems. A processor may support one, several or all of them.

Bass Control

Bass Control coordinates subwoofers and their crossover interaction with the main speakers, aiming for consistent integration across the listening area.

Active Room Treatment

ART allows selected loudspeakers to contribute corrective energy so the system can reduce unwanted room decay using the installed speaker array itself.

Why speaker count matters

The more speakers and subs participate, the more important routing, headroom and calibration become. ART is therefore tightly connected to the processor architecture.

How this differs from conventional EQ

Traditional EQ changes the signal sent to one channel. Active room treatment is more spatial: several channels can work together to control what the room does after the initial sound is produced.
